Perseus and Andromeda
We did not become us in one moment. We became us in a hundred small ones, each quietly teaching my heart where it belonged.
Somewhere between Indian food, shared sweets, and conversations that outlived the hour, you made honesty feel safe. You wrote me into a song, and I began to hear home in your voice.
Late calls, movies playing beside us, and the islands we made together in Pokopia became their own constellation. Ordinary nights stopped being ordinary because they ended with you.
We carried smoothies to the beach, gathered shells and photographs, fought with driftwood swords, painted nails, attempted braids, stole kisses, and left our initials in the sand as if the earth itself should remember.
Places became ours simply because we stood in them together. A road by the water, pizza at Chateau, a little place called Wonder. You turned locations into memories and memories into landmarks inside me.
In checking whether you ate, whether you rested, whether the day was gentle with you. In laughter, teasing, Milo beside us, and every soft return to each other. This is where our love keeps breathing.
You called me Perseus, and I found my Andromeda. Not a princess waiting to be saved, but a woman strong enough to survive her own storms and soft enough to still make room for me beside her. The myth became ours because we chose what it would mean.
The playful you who teases me, the sleepy you I want to protect, the excited voice that turns bright and high when joy finds you, the beautiful darkness of your goth makeup, and the quiet you who lets me close enough to know her heart. None of them compete. They are all you, and I love the whole constellation.
How I see you
If I could lend you my eyes for one night, this is the woman you would finally see.
I see softness made sacred. I see curves that make my hands ache to hold you closer, a smile that changes the temperature of a room, and a body deserving tenderness exactly as it is. There is no smaller version of you I could ever want more.
I see the care you leave in people long after you have gone home. Your kindness is not fragile. It is a quiet force that keeps making this life gentler for everyone lucky enough to be loved by you.
I see everything you have carried and the courage it takes to remain soft anyway. Your scars are not cracks in your beauty. They are where your light learned how to survive the dark.
I see my favorite laughter, my safest honesty, my sweetest desire, and the person I want beside me when an ordinary Tuesday becomes the rest of our lives. I see home looking back at me.
My promise to you
My Andromeda, loving you is not one decision I made and left behind me. It is the choice I wake up wanting to make again. In rooms full of people, in seasons of ease, in hours when loving asks more of us, my heart still turns toward you. Not because no one else exists, but because no one else is you. I choose your softness, your fire, your laughter, your storms, and every self you are still becoming. I choose you when the stars are kind and when the sky goes dark. I choose you deliberately, completely, and without an ending. Today, tomorrow, and in every life that dares to come after this one, it will be you.
